The Joy of Learning Something New

This year, I have decided to dive into the world of watercolor journaling—a gentle yet expressive art form that lets me capture fleeting thoughts and simple beauty on paper. I am currently exploring this through an online course with Alekhyam Arts, where each session feels like a quiet adventure. With every brushstroke and color blend, I’m discovering not just technique but also a deeper way to observe the world around me.

I truly believe that learning something new each year adds a fresh rhythm to life. Whether it’s picking up a skill, exploring a passion, or stepping outside our comfort zone, the act of learning keeps our minds flexible and our spirits curious. It reminds us that growth doesn’t have to be dramatic—it can be found in the quiet progress of consistent effort.

Art, especially watercolor, has a unique way of slowing us down. It invites patience, presence, and reflection—something we often miss in our rushed routines. For me, painting has become a form of mindfulness, a space to breathe and reset. It’s not about perfection but about the process.

What excites me most is that this practice is entirely mine—no deadlines, no pressure, just a journey I’ve chosen to take. There’s something deeply rewarding in creating for the sake of joy and exploration. So, let’s see where this takes me.

Currently, I have a drawer full of these supplies and am having fun learning to play with them all.
